At 4:48 EDT this morning Venus bids farewell to Gemini for another year and ingresses into the sign of Cancer. Here she delights in giving and receiving (Venus) nurture (Cancer). Where does Cancer fall in your chart? That area is where Venus will magnetically draw beauty, rewards, artistry and relating with others into your life. Because Cancer is a water sign it increases our intuitive capacity, as well as our desire for emotional closeness and connection. Cancer is a cardinal (self-initiating) sign and so Venus in Cancer brings us tangible rewards (Venus) when we initiate (cardinal) activities, especially those that promote better self-care (for Cancer is highly self-protective – that’s partly what the Crab’s shell is for). Venus in Cancer values (Venus) the family and home (Cancer), and so we can expect a greater frequency of family get-togethers between now and July 12. Venus also promotes artistic expression, so we may feel drawn to activities that beautify or show love (Venus) toward the home or family environment (Cancer). Cancer is a fairly sensitive sign – even moody. Venus in Cancer can up the moodiness factor if we’re not honouring our needs.
And, speaking of upping the moodiness factor, here comes a Full Moon at 1:30 EDT this afternoon. The Full Moon brings events and situations to a culmination from the start of its cycle at the New Moon two weeks ago. This Full Moon is in the optimistic and buoyant sign of Sagittarius. However, like last month’s Full Moon, this one has a high degree of intensity because it is conjunct (fused with) powerful Pluto. The stakes are high and the energy builds to a rousing crescendo. Retrograde Jupiter rules this lunation as the planetary ruler of the Sagittarius Moon. He’s been incommunicado for a while now, not aspecting (relating to) any other planets, as he searches for deeper truths in his retrograde phase. Mercury is also retrograde (though only for another day – see my post tomorrow) and Mars quincunxes Uranus. There’s also an Hourglass chart pattern in effect that makes us swing from one extreme to another.
Right now there’s a dynamic aspect pattern in the cosmos, called a t-square. Let’s break this down because its effects are quite dramatic: Sun (spirit) and Venus (love) have joined forces to oppose Moon (emotions) and Pluto (power). Each of the Lights, with their respective escorts, square Uranus, planet of shock. Whether internally or externally, somewhere in our world a fight is being waged: Everyone wants what they want, when they want it. In a sense, Uranus is under siege from both sets of planets, so he needs to release this barrage of energy. And because Uranus loves a good upheaval, expect a surprise, a twist or a reversal of fortune to rock your world. (‘Cuz, you know, there just hasn’t been enough of that these past few weeks, sigh.)
There’s more: Mars and Neptune oppose each other, asking us to actively (Mars) address our illusions and addictions (Neptune). Sobering, isn’t it? All of the energy warns us that reckless action that hasn’t been sufficiently thought out will be met with a good smack-down. “You can look, but don’t touch,” say the planets.
In short, the water’s a little choppy at this Full Moon, so wear your life-preserver.
