Full Moons occur when the two Lights are exactly opposite each other in the heavens. This month, our Full Moon falls in the sign of go-getter Aries. It’s no co-incidence that, while the sky is so beautifully illuminated by Luna, you receive illumination about how you currently handle the delicate balance between yourself (Moon in Aries) and others (Sun in Libra). It’s a bit like getting your exam results back after the Libra New Moon of two weeks ago. Something is culminating now. Look to the Aries/Libra sector of your chart to find out which two houses will pop at this Full Moon.

Clearly, the perspective of Self, in relation to Others, takes on some urgency at this Full Moon. To engage effectively with others (Libra) you must truly know yourself (Aries). We’ve been analysing this fundamental aspect of life for three weeks now, thanks to Mercury’s retrograde cycle in relationship-oriented Libra. A planetary retrograde signals a time to review how we channel its energy. In this case, cosmic messenger Mercury has helped us all re-visit vital communication efforts, as well as relationships. Questions that may have been addressed at various levels include: How do I come across to others? How do they come across to me? What do I need to change to be clearer, to be understood? How does my Mind function? The observation of our thoughts is a crucial part of self-discovery – bearing in mind that, as you think, so you eventually manifest at some level of Being.

The threads of soul-searching, during Mercury’s retrograde, have been picked up by Venus and Mars in Scorpio. Each of these cosmic lovers is currently plummeting the depths of our desires (Venus) and ambitions (Mars). Expect hidden resources (be they material or talents) to come to light too. Other riches that come to the surface of consciousness, from deep within, is shadow material. The shadow is where we conveniently store the aspects of Self we’re not ready to integrate into our lives or Being. There are often discarded gifts waiting to come to light, though we may have disowned these a long time ago. There are also skeletons in the closet. So, all of this hidden material comes up from Scorpio’s depth, courtesy of Venus and Mars, for your perusal. Use it as clay to mould something new and worthy; it’s time to refine and purify gifts and skeletons alike.

One thing to watch out for: When Scorpio energy is highlighted, secrecy may feel like the best option – though, the power and urgency of secrets inevitably weighs us down and eventually comes back to haunt us. And Scorpio knows all about haunting. Halloween falls in the season of Scorpio with very good reason. At any rate, withholding vital information affects the power structure of any given relationship – and we’ve been primed by Mercury retrograde to re-examine the sharing of information, and how it benefits our relationships.

Pluto, co-ruler of Scorpio, makes a wide-orb trine to Moon, signifying acute inner vision and clarity of emotions. This Full Moon’s connection to transformative Pluto renews the indominatable spirit, and strengthens powers of regeneration. Meanwhile, the channel to Source is clearer now. It’s always open to any who want to ride its waves – but now it becomes more apparent how to access it. This is thanks to a trine between Sun and mystic Neptune. Your relationship to the Divine benefits from this flowing energy – resulting in greater intuition, compassion, and a sense of artistry. And Sun’s trine to North Node (the soul’s current direction) ensures a clear vision and sense of purpose in group endeavours that contribute to the benefit of all.

Over the next several months, any discussion of current planetary events will also include the opposition between cosmic tutors Saturn and Uranus (currently retrograde). This long-term aspect pressures the Collective to re-choreograph the dance between commitment (Saturn) and freedom (Uranus), between conformity (Saturn) and breaking the mould (Uranus). It’s a necessary tension, for both needs must have their expression in our lives. The Virgo and Pisces houses in your natal chart give additional information about where this inner tug-of-war plays out in your life and psyche. In this lunation chart (set for Toronto and New York), the tension falls on the financial axis. No surprise there, as we’ve witnessed the fall-out from risky schemes set-up by hoarding Plutocrats. One can only hope that Pluto’s ingress into Establishment-oriented Capricorn, next month, will bring some of the greedsters down. Regardless, Jupiter’s on-going trine to Saturn eases the tension of the Saturn-Uranus opposition, by ensuring a natural flow of expansion (Jupiter) and contraction (Saturn).

Saturn is a key planet in this lunation chart because it leads the rest of the planets into the ‘empty bowl’ section of the chart. Contraction and responsible stewardship of resources (a key theme of Saturn in Virgo) weighs heavily on us now. This will become particularly urgent when Pluto moves into Capricorn, heralding a new era of dynamic change to our collective infrastructures. Think financial institutions, education, politics, corporatism. And, because Capricorn resonates with aging and maturity, Boomer issues come to the foreground – think health care for an aging population.

We’ve already had a tiny taste of what’s to come. Saturn makes an awkward quincunx aspect to Chiron, the Wounded Healer. This speaks of the discomfort (sometimes manifesting as a physical ailment) that comes with adjusting to the new belt-tightening measures we require, after the heyday of unmonitored financial freedom. Essentially, it is Jupiter (expansion) in Capricorn (contraction) that distils the current cosmic message: you can expand and grow, but within certain limits.

Today’s Full Moon will bring these issues into direct awareness, so that you can meet your current reality with courage (Aries Moon) and co-operation with others (Libra Sun).

Mercury goes direct tomorrow. Come back then for further information.
