With the Spring Equinox recently behind us, we are now officially in Aries Season. Happy Birthday to all Aries! Especially for you, there’s an Aries New Moon to help prolong the festivities of a new beginning. There’s a lovely synergy at work here: Sun and Moon are each embarking on a brand new journey through the zodiac. Whereas Sol will take a year to complete his, Luna will take one month (and then begin anew). Their union in the first sign of the zodiac is symbolic of Spring, of fresh beginnings, and of stepping into a new sense of Self. Everyone has Aries somewhere in their charts: this is the area of life in which you assert “I Am.”

The New Moon normally heralds a time of new beginnings. It’s always an auspicious time to focus on your intentions. Venus and Saturn are still retrograde, however, which can coincide with a sense of being stalled. This is especially true, given Venus’ conjunction to the Sun and Moon. And Saturn retrograde in Virgo is the Handle of a celestial Fan pattern, so he continues to exert tremendous influence in our daily lives. As opposed to bravely launching a brand new initiative, you may want to use this lunar portal as an opportunity to check your progress so far. There is plenty of room for a course correction, and your situation is bound to look different in the coming weeks, until Venus resumes forward motion. For now, she is very much embroiled in reviewing her likes and dislikes – and so, in turn, are we.

Still, there is a great deal of progress to be made, simply by checking in with yourself and others. Venus symbolizes not only your values, but your relationships. This is a natural time to reflect on the important people in your life, and what your relationship with them teaches you about yourself, and about the greater world. It’s a time of shifting, where some relationships may not necessarily endure the current set of circumstances in which you find yourself. There’s a natural ebb and flow in any given relationship – and this time seems to favour the ebb. See yourself from a wider scope than you may normally do; it’s an excellent time to observe where you naturally fit in with others. Our lives seemed to be comprised of various groups of people: your partner/spouse, family, co-workers, friends, classmates, on-line groups, hobby/activity groups – you name it. The point is, where do you most feel most like your true self? This is part of what Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus retrograde are attempting to reveal to you at this New Moon. Destiny is calling this week, thanks to a sextile between these planets and the North Node. There is a continued opportunity to align yourself with a wider circle of people with whom you feel a meaningful connection.

Having said that, don’t push the river. All of the above-mentioned planets are in a frictional square to Pluto in Capricorn. Personal ambition is operating at fever pitch this week, which can result in trying to impose yourself onto a group that may not be quite ready for your particular brand of fabulousness. Any square aspect to Pluto can reveal manipulative tactics – not the surest way to get what you think you want. If you have a burning desire to make something of yourself or to leave your mark (Aries), let the square motivate you to solve problems, or to rise to a challenge you’d normally be afraid to meet. If you avoid the trap of sending out an it’s my way or the highway signal, you can use this dynamic energy to accomplish a fair bit in a short period of time.

  1. Thanks for the insights last night. The script read was an excellent check of progress so far. We are all coming together as a group. A good sign for things to come.
