Welcome to a wild entry into a new season. Whether you live north or south of the equator, Solstice ushers in a profound awareness of how to make use of the Light in your life. In the Northern Hemisphere Winter is officially here. These next three nights will be the longest of the year – but then the days will become longer again, come Christmas day. December 24 – Christmas Eve – is the longest night in which we symbolically await a miracle. It’s a lovely symmetry between an ancient story that tells of the miraculous birth of a new Son, and the ‘new’ Sun which arrives after Solstice. The Southern Hemisphere will experience the days becoming gradually shorter. You must seek your inner Light for guidance while the Sun recedes from view.

This is a very special Solstice, because it is preceded by a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on the final degree of Gemini. Eclipses are the equivalent of a cosmic re-boot, not only to the Earth’s grid, but to your system as well. Because this is a lunar eclipse, it speaks of closing a chapter in your life – one which you can be sure you are ready to close, since it offers you no further opportunities for continued growth.

That the eclipse should fall on the critical 29th degree adds emphasis to the notion of completing something. Look to the house which contains 29 degrees Gemini in your personal birth chart for details on which area of your life is about to be activated. Although I can’t see your chart, what’s shifting for you likely pertains to the way you think, learn, speak, and communicate in various ways. Gemini is, after all, the most communicative of the twelve zodiac energies. Mercury – messenger of the gods – rules Gemini, so it stands to reason that we’re all privy to some kind of light bulb moment that will hopefully enable us to speak our truth with greater clarity and courage. Or maybe we can stop hiding what we know to be true from ourselves, if the square from Jupiter and Uranus to both Sun and Moon are any indication.

Perhaps this eclipse holds out the promise that you will honour the inner wisdom you come by honestly – your own inner Light. This is the miracle of the season, and the promise of Solstice. The symbolism of the Sun in Sagittarius at the gateway to other realms (conjunct as it is the Galactic Centre) prophesizes that a Bearer of Light from elsewhere shall arrive at Solstice (soulstice) to show you the way. That Bearer of Light is you. You are the solar and soular hero. Please go out and share your unique Light, using this divine energy to benefit yourself and the world. And may peace be with you.
