In David Bowie’s timeless "Space Oddity" I can’t help hearing the earthy Virgo stellium of Sun, Moon and Venus administering the commands of Ground Control, while fuzzy Neptune (ruler of Virgo’s opposite sign, Pisces) takes the role of the literally spaced-out Major Tom. Today we have fresh cosmic ink to compose a new lyric; one that can bridge the gap between the sense of being grounded versus completely untethered.
Today we welcome a healthy new start, courtesy of a New Moon in Virgo. This is the beginning of the lunar phase, when the Sun and Moon unite, balancing the yin and yang energies within us. If you’re a Virgo, this is your most potent New Moon of the year, so take some time to clarify your desired goals.
But this energy is available to all, regardless of your Sun Sign. Because Virgo energy resonates with health and wellness, with the daily tasks of mundane life, and with providing assistance to those in need, perhaps you can focus your intentions to align with some of these Virgo principles. Virgo also corresponds to clear communication and thought processes so, if the recent Mercury retrograde phase jumbled your brain, here’s a chance to get it back. Planet Mercury rules Virgo, so precision is finally making a comeback.
It’s quite telling that the Sun and Moon are in a union with each other (called a conjunction) because, at the same time, they oppose Neptune retrograde on the last degree of Aquarius. It’s a clear message for us to unify the polarities within us. Can you marry the Dreamer with the Realist, merge the Mystic with the Pragmatist, or balance the Spaced-Out Tripper with the Grounded One? You’ve been given a great deal of cosmic strength to do so now, especially given the other planetary players involved with this New Moon.
By that, I mean that the Sun, Moon and Venus are in a lovely planetary configuration known as a grand earth trine. The Virgo trio reaches out harmoniously to Jupiter in Taurus and Pluto retrograde in Capricorn, each of whom also trine each other. There’s still time to capitalize on this sweet cosmic triangle, so make the most of this time. It’s about as luscious as you can get!
