Venus the Goddess of Love is now in the sign of Virgo the Virgin, signifying that each of us carries a divine inner Light within that is meant to be shared with all.
Now that the Sun and Venus have entered the earthy sign of Virgo, adapting to practical concerns is the theme over the next four weeks. Venus moved into Virgo a day ahead of the Sun, as his ambassador. Now the two will travel together until mid-September.
Since Venus touched down in Virgo first, let’s identify how her energy manifests. It’s fascinating to me that Venus is in fall in Virgo – meaning that she’s challenged in this sign of the zodiac. I see a great affinity between this goddess of love and Virgo’s representative, the Virgin. We’re talking about an abundance of sacred feminine energy (available to men and women alike). Venus is also invested in the act of sharing – something that sits well with Virgo’s desire to be of service to others.
You don’t have to be born with a planet in Virgo to have its energy within you; everyone has Virgo somewhere in their chart. Look to that sector of your chart* where Virgo resides; its house placement reveals where you’re able to work with attraction principles to manifest greater abundance – especially given the mutable grand earth trine that is developing over the week. That’s a heavenly circuit of energy that keeps everything flowing like clockwork (something Virgo energy can truly admire).
Now add the Sun’s energy to Virgo, and couple it with Venus. This points to a soul-ar flame burning within the heart of a sacred servant. If you can rise above some of the shadow traits that Virgo is occasionally prone to, then we’re being served up some rather utopian vibes. And Virgo’s idea of Utopia is ‘practical perfection’: punctuality, verbal precision, and caring for others. And the desire to model these admirable traits can sometimes go into overdrive, resulting in nitpicking at others or getting too hung up on details that threaten to derail your progress. Bluntly put, when we overwork the Virgo function of our minds, we turn from sacred servant to picky fusser.
This search for earthly perfection is poignantly spelled out by the opposition from Sun and Venus to Neptune retrograde on the final degree of Aquarius. Neptune is that planet that pulls us towards our innate connection with All That Is. And yet, unless you can let go and let god it’s tempting to turn your divine discontent into a search for perfection in your beloved. It’s easy to forget human fallibility now. But the soul encompasses the body and personality, not the other way around. Everything is already perfect at the divine level of being. That there is no flaw in the Divine is partly what Chiron in Pisces is teaching us. Chiron is in the sign that Neptune rules: Pisces. Chiron retrograde in Pisces speaks about compassion and forgiveness. Mercy.
With that in mind, let us strive for something greater than ourselves, as the current planetary energy encourages. But, at the same time, embrace your human nature and forgive yourself and others for appearing to fall short of the mark. It’s about forgiving others as you would wish to be forgiven. And besides, humility is one of the trademark qualities of a well-balanced Virgo. Just ask any Virgo.
