How many false faces do you think you've constructed over the course of your life? After the Halloween revelry, might you be able to put them aside and reveal your true identity?
Now that Halloween is upon us, it’s fascinating to contemplate masks, which are a favourite feature of trick or treating. The irony is that the vast majority of people are masked every day of their lives. People mask their true identities for various reasons: Some feel that their real self is unsuitable for public viewing – imperfect in some way. Others may actively choose to deceive in order to get what they’re after. Trick.
One of the treats of Halloween is that it forces revelers to be conscious that they are putting on a mask. Would that we could be as aware of the masks we assume unconsciously. What would happen if people saved these masks strictly for Halloween, and brought their authentic selves to everyone the rest of the time?
Don’t get me wrong, if you’re dressing up tonight and getting festive with your alter-ego, this is a smashing night to do so. Mercury and Venus are near the end of their tour through Scorpio. And, on their way out, they will square Neptune retrograde in Aquarius. This energy speaks of glamour and illusion – quite appropriate for a Halloween party.
But the tricks can unwittingly spill out into everyday life with this aspect. Your task is to sort out what’s true from what’s false. If something feels off to you, pay attention and dig a bit deeper. We’re being given one last chance to uncover what’s really going on underneath the façade of what gets presented (Mercury square Neptune). (Note to Plutocrats: we’re onto you.)
Today also brings an opportunity to uncover where your personal values (Venus) may come into sharp conflict with mainstream values (Neptune in Aquarius). Neptune is the higher octave of Venus. By that, I mean that Neptune raises the vibration of personal love (Venus) into Love for one and all (Agape). The fact that Venus and Neptune are in communication with each other today can help foster the sense that you may need to shift your stance in order to accommodate a more far-reaching perspective. (I think this is what the Occupiers around the world are teaching.)
But once the clock strikes twelve, may you be brave enough to drop your mask and let the real you come through. If you find that idea unsettling, please contact me for a reading. Perhaps you need to be reminded of the many gifts you have that are not only suitable, but necessary for the world to see.
