Scorpio Season resonates powerfully with the Greek myth of Persephone's abduction by Hades (Pluto to the Romans). She was forced, as are we all in due time, into acquaintance with taboo issues. Although she didn't willingly choose her initiation, Persephone actually emerged from The Underworld with new-found awareness that increased her personal power. Her story is a reminder that, until you become aware of what's going on beneath the surface (in your own personal Underworld), you will inevitably act out potentially destructive impulses. Yet we have cosmic support to transmute our challenging complexes into energy that can be used in beneficial and creative ways.
As we make our way through the sometimes swampy terrain of Scorpio, today the Sun (in Scorpio) opposes Jupiter retrograde in Taurus. These two signs are fixed. Yet even with their fixed natures, the Scorpio side of the polarity is agitating for some type of inner change (which may very well manifest externally). If you’re aware that there is this tug of war within you that’s somewhat stuck between two seemingly opposite modes, astrology gives you the option of choosing how to channel that energy, rather than be at the mercy of it.
This planetary opposition may have some folks wavering between a desire to probe beneath the surface in an effort to shift (Sun in Scorpio) versus remaining complacent or unwilling to budge (Jupiter rx in Taurus). In another vein, the opposition may manifest as a quarrel with someone else, possibly over the distribution of personal and/or shared resources (Taurus/Scorpio axis). Lovers may have misgivings about sexual issues.
Yet rather than allow ourselves to be unwillingly pulled into a maelstrom, an opposition also presents us with the possibility of integrating two disparate truths and to thus embrace paradox. One such example might be: “Though I live in the tangible and material world (Jupiter in Taurus) I am aware that Life includes so much more than I can physically see (Sun in Scorpio).” Or “I ground my physical energy (Jupiter in Taurus) while I explore the occult (Sun in Scorpio).”
Pluto is supporting the ability to remain grounded yet acutely aware of the inner dimensions of Life, by way of its sextile to the Sun in Scorpio (which Pluto co-rules) and trine with Jupiter retrograde in Taurus. This energy enhances physical and psychological healing. It also enhances our powers to manifest abundance. Are you looking to rejuvenate an intimate relationship? Do you desire greater financial security? Are you trying to more fully understand or simply appreciate the Mystery of Life and the hidden teachings that the occult arts reveal? These planetary aspects are powerful assistants in the process.
