As Scorpio is a fixed sign in the water element, it is very much like frozen water. Ice does little to reveal the hidden dimensions of life beneath its surface. During Scorpio season you are empowered to draw out whatever has become stuck in your own frozen river, so as to re-work or release unconscious patterns that threaten to keep you in an unsatisfying state of inertia.
As the Sun enters Scorpio today, Scorpio season is now officially underway – although Mercury and Venus prepared the path by arriving in Scorpio ahead of the Sun. The veil between this world and the next is noticeably thinner now, if you simply pay attention.
Anecdotally, I hear of many more deaths occurring during the Scorpio weeks. It can be a difficult time for some who will lose a loved one. Or it can be a disheartening time for those who encounter aspects of their personalities they deem un-loveable, or aspects of their lives that must ‘die’ in order to give way for new growth. Yet death and re-birth comprise the bulk of our work when Scorpio energy comes to the fore.
If you’re grieving a loss – be it a physical or metaphorical death – or if you’re feeling vulnerable about certain changes afoot in your life, you may wish to practice ‘zooming out’ with your inner eye – which is highly attuned now, thanks to Neptune’s collaboration with Saturn and the coming New Moon in Scorpio on Wednesday. Using your inner sight can enable you to see a bigger picture unfolding. Part of that bigger picture reveals that, while we all carry personal truths – some of which have been inherited by family and social lessons – there are some universal truths that bind us to each other, regardless of where we come from and what we believe.
One of these truths is that Life is eternal. Einstein taught us that matter is neither created nor destroyed; it is simply transformed. Transformation – it is the very hub of the Scorpio lesson. You are a manifestation of a conscious Source that seeks to know itself more fully through you and to thus transform lower vibrations into higher ones. There is a universal heartbeat connecting us to each other in Love. Indeed, mystics and poets describe Source Energy as being comprised of Universal Love.
You are comprised of this same Universal Love, which is bigger than romantic infatuation and erotic love – as pleasing as those things are, especially while Venus tours Scorpio. Although Venus is said to be in detriment in the sign of Scorpio, her ability to plunge to the depths of Scorpio’s passionate waters reveals her determination to merge at the deepest level possible in order to feel whole. It’s a reminder that you are complete, even by yourself. As we move deeper into Scorpio terrain, breathe with the Cosmos and Be at One.
Now that the Sun has joined Mercury and Venus in Scorpio, a light is shed on each of our shadows, in order to retrieve elements that have been buried and forgotten there. These fragments are now ready to be either released or healed and integrated, bringing you into wholeness. If you encounter some of the shadow elements of Scorpio – such as jealousy, obsession, manipulation, or power struggles – it will serve your growth to acknowledge that these are traits within you (even if they appear to be coming at you from another person), that are asking for the power of the Sun’s Light to be elevated to some of the greatest strengths of the Scorpio vibration: passion, tenacity, intuition, creativity, acute awareness and deep insights.
Scorpio’s rulers – Mars and Pluto – are challenging us to stand in the truth of our examined convictions (Mercury and Venus in Scorpio), and to be brave enough to pursue the path of Wholeness (Mars in Leo sextile Saturn exalted in Libra), whilst removing impediments along the way (Pluto in Capricorn square Uranus retrograde in Aries). May the Sun’s arrival in Scorpio illuminate this process for all of us!
